AUDITIONS: Owning the Room

AUDITIONS: Owning the Room

What does it mean to “own the room”?  A lot of performers interpret ‘owning the room’ as meaning that you have to go in there and dominate.  That’s not what you want to do.  It really boils down to owning who you ARE in the room.  (Here again is another example of how important it is to always be yourself!)

Too often Performers come in the room, and they make it all about them, and their energy stays [only] with themselves.  First of all, this is a job interview.  You need to make sure that you’re connecting to the other people, and it needs to be an authentic connection.  It should be authentic and organic; you want to bring the best of YOU into the room.
