Only audition for what you are truly appropriate for. This may seem completely obvious; there are lots of Performers who do not read the entire casting notices (“breakdowns”), and they submit to projects for which they are not the right type. Doing this can waste a Casting Director’s time, and it will not be beneficial to your career. Submit to what you’re appropriate for, and you’ll get seen. Also, remember to check with your Agent often about to which roles he or she is submitting you. Be sure you are both on the same page. Make sure you’re working with an Agent who knows who you are. Make sure your agent is submitting you for the right roles.
