Our Vision

We want to be the prime wholesale pharmacy in South Africa - not in size but in quality of service to the veterinary establishment.  We want to lead by our example and our reputation. We have already extended our business reach from our beginnings in Gauteng to Mpumalanga and we are in the process of expanding our reach to the other provinces to operate as a national business.  We do not limit our attention to urban practices and believe that there is a lot that could be done to support rural practices. Our primary aim is to link to our clients to the   brand as franchises to let everyone enjoy the marketing and purchasing benefits of a strong and widely recognised quality brand.  We also gladly serve clients who have not joined the franchise.

Our team

We are a family owned and managed business – just like most of our clients.  
This means that in our business our key management has the same dedication as you do in your practice to delivering a great service.

Ben Kunz is our managing director and has 23 years experience in the pharmacy and health care environment, having worked as an entrepreneur in this industry. 
Ben established the RingFarm Franchise group in Gauteng and helped a pharmacist friend and business associate to establish the Pharmanet franchise group on a national basis.  Ben was also a director of Medikredit for 18 years and established Interpharm Data Systems. At Interpharm he worked with Gerhard Slabbert of Pharmarama and Home Medication Services (HMS), the biggest postal chronic medicine pharmacy in the southern hemisphere.

Some of these companies were and is still owned today by Smith Kline Beecham S A, Medscheme, Ring Wholesale Pharmacy as well a Transpharm.
Ben has now embarked on bringing to the veterinary industry the benefits that he has helped to unlock in the pharmacy industry in South Africa.

Ben is supported in the business by his wife Wilna (responsible for the warehouse management and client service), his son Pieter (responsible for operations and IT) and Dewald Joubert, his son-in-law. Dewald resides in the Isle of Man, was a partner in the law firm Maitland Advisory until July 2008 and is now a business partner for a South African owned private investment group. He is a business law and tax expert and serves our business in a non-executive capacity.

Our business

Vetvalue built the VetvalueShop brand and franchise model around its wholesale pharmacy.  The business is complimented by the online business platform, which accommodates wholesaling to our franchisees and non-franchised veterinary practices, and our online retailing platform (VetvalueShop.co.za), which we operate for the benefit of our franchisees.  

Through these facets of our business we aim to introduce well organised and convenient interfaces with our clients and their clients, the public, to have a distinct and positive influence on the veterinary market.

Through our wholesale pharmacy and franchise model we share our business experience in effective retailing to help vets to be more business wise and competitive and to help them to adapt to the demands of a fast changing business environment.

Through our online shop we give our clients access to a wide range of stock that can be sold through a veterinary practice without the need for the practice to increase stock levels on its shelves.  All sales in the geographical area of every franchised practice are for the credit of the Vet.  Even items he/she do not carry in stock!

 

FRANCHISE OPPURTUNITY

The Vetvalue franchise concept is very easy to understand, easy to operate and well thought through. It offers all round value for money.
 
What do you get?
• You get linked to the VetValue brand name and receive a lightbox and  signage and branding to show this.
• You get more feet and Rands into your practice on the back of the collective reputation of our network of affiliated practices.
• Notwitstanding our collective approach, your independence as owner of your practice is not compromised or interfered with.
• Our product prices are linked to the Vet price, from which we deduct the discounts available thorugh our discount structure. 
• To make business convenient, responsive and cost efficient, you can place your orders via our website and have full control of purchases, avoiding errors that can occur through telephone-based ordering.
• Currently if you practise is near one of our warehouses, including Johannesburg, no delivery fee is charged. However no delivery charges will in any event be made for orders above R5000.
• We give a standard discount of 10% on Act 36 products (excluding food items and items where manufacturers do not give wholsale discount).
• On Act 101 medicines we give a standard 5% discount (excluding items where the wholsale discount is less than the normal discount).
• In addition to standard discounts, we rebate to you 40% of all negotiated volume discounts that we agree with manufacturers.  This rebate is paid once a year and calculated with reference to each franchise’s Rand volume purchases at Vetvalue. This rebate can be worth more than the standard 5% and 10% discounts!  This is where other wholesalers benefit from your purchases without sharing this benefit with you.
• When our franchise base is sufficiently established, we will publish a monthly advertising pamphlet to promote products for that month at discounted prices negotiated with manufacturers. There will be competitions and articles and your own front shop info will be listed. There is no cost involved whilst the pamphlet is not in place. Once in place you will receive 5000 pamphlets a month as part of your franchise benefits. These pamphlets will be placed in letter boxes/post boxes in your area.  We will do all the work in negotiating discounts, compiling the pamphlet and arranging distribution.
• A contract that can be cancelled by giving 30 day notice – you only need to participate for as long as you are happy with the benefits we deliver to your business!
• You will get extensive business coverage and free advertising through our online VetvalueShop. With certain conditions, all sales within your geographical area through this website will be for your credit.  This even applies to internet sales of items that you do not carry in stock! 
• You will be part of the growing Vetvalue family of business and linked to a business enterprise that will always look after your interest and do not compete with you.
• We have a national vision and currently have warehouses in Pretoria and Middelburg. Our next warehouse is planned for Johannesburg.  From our Pretoria warehouse we service internet sales nationwide.

 
What is the cost?
• Until 31 January 2009 the joining fee is only R 7000 (excl VAT). The joining fee is reviewed periodically.
• A monthly franchise fee of R950 (excl VAT) applies 3 months after joining. Once the advertising pamphlet is in place the franchise fee will increase to R2500 (excl VAT). 
• The dropping fee on the pamphlets is for your account. The cost currently is R90/1000 Excl. However we will contract a national service provider on behalf of all franchisees and debit your account.

Upon request, we will supply you with names of respected practices who have been franchises for some time and who will testify to the benefits of joining our organization.
