Option 1
Giants Castle Nature Reserve, UNESCO Heritage Site, includes a 40 minutes casual walk to the main caves which houses exhibits of the San Rock Art. A site guide will explain in detail the history and meaning of these ancient paintings.
Option 2
Bushman Rock Paintings found in Kamberg, situated on the foot hills of the Drakensburg Mountains are plentiful. This site houses a greater volume of paintings which include some of the best preserved paintings in South Africa. Reaching this site is slightly more strenuous then the Gaints Castle, you will embark on a 90 minutes going to the sites and back.
Delve back in time to discover the Kamberg Bushman Rock Paintings—an exquisite outdoor showing of art created by South Africa's indigenous people. Depart Durban on a day trip that begins with a visit to KwaZulu Natal's capital city, Pietermaritzbur. Then explore the caves where the Sans people left their mark, with engravings and sketchings depicting scenes from their day lives. Afterward head to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, home to a small museum relaying events leading up to Mandela's arrest and a stirring image-depicting sculpture comprised of 50 steel columns.

Visit the location of Nelson Mandela's Capture Site
The tour starts off with a visit to Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu Natal. Explore the Pietermaritzburg's City Hall, which claims to be the largest brick building in the southern hemisphere and is located in the heart of the Pietermaritzburg city center. Visit the hall and witness it's magnificent stained glass displays and massive pipe organ, known to be the largest south of the equator.
Continue the tour to explore the Kamberg Bushman Rock Paintings, known to be the most astonishing outdoor art gallery in South Africa. Walk through the caves and experience the rock paintings and engravings that offer an intriguing glimpse into the Bushmen way of life.
Discover the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, where Nelson Mandela was captured and sent to prison for 27 years, this is where his "Long Walk To Freedom" began. The site is located just outside of Howick.
The last stop of the tour will be at the Howick Falls which is 95 metres in height. The local Zulu people call it "KwaNogqaza" which means "Place of the tall one". Conclude your journey back in Durban.
